About NMLLNMLL was formed in 1989 by a group of concerned local residents and representatives from various local agencies. With funding from ACFE their aim was to assist Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) residents of North Melbourne by providing English classes. By providing relevant and easy to understand information about services, they were also able to help these residents connect with local agencies. Our Mission and VisionOur mission is to provide and facilitate community connectedness through adult learning opportunities, focusing on English language and the development of life skills. Our vision is to provide an accesible, inclusive and relevant service that anticipates and responds to the needs of the community we serve. This is a service that:
Funding and PartnershipsNMLL is funded by the DPCD, the City of Melbourne, ACFE, AMES, Skills Victoria and private donations. The NMLL Partnership Program provides additional resources and networking opportunities, increasing our capacity to cater for the diverse needs of our participants. Partners include Hotham Mission and St Alban's church, the Kensington Neigbourhood House, Farnham Street and Wingate Avenue community centres and The Centre in North Melbourne. Structure and GovernanceNMLL is administered by a Committee of Management, responsible for setting the policies that guide the work of the centre.
